Improve the strength, function and appearance of a tooth that may otherwise be lost.

A dental crown, also known as a cap, is a type of protective tooth restoration that completely ‘caps’ or covers a damaged or decayed tooth to restore its original shape, size and color.

Not only will porcelain crowns improve your smile’s appearance, they can restore decayed and damaged teeth and protect them for years to come. If you have teeth that are broken, severely decayed, worn or misshapen, strong dental crowns can provide a long-lasting solution with functional and cosmetic benefits.

In some cases, a porcelain crown, a relatively simple procedure, can prevent a compromised tooth from becoming infected or breaking, eliminating the need for restorative dentistry treatments that are more complicated and invasive, like root canal therapy, extraction or dental implants.

Dental crowns require two appointments. At the first visit, we will be removing the aged tooth and create a smooth, healthy base for the crown. Dr. Mitchell and an assistant will make a mold of the damaged tooth so that a customized porcelain crown can be made. During the second visit, the dentist will place and polish the crown, making sure that the new dental crown matches the surrounding teeth perfectly and functions comfortably and naturally.
